Today, we honor Kevin Jennings' sixth anniversary as CEO of Lambda Legal, where his visionary leadership has positioned the organization at the forefront of the fight for LGBTQ+ rights and justice for everyone living with HIV.
Under Kevin's leadership, Lambda Legal has achieved extraordinary milestones:
⚖️ Historic Supreme Court Victories: In June 2020, Lambda Legal secured a landmark 6-3 Supreme Court victory in Bostock v. Clayton County, establishing that discrimination based on gender identity or sexual orientation violates the Civil Rights Act of 1964—protecting LGBTQ+ workers nationwide and advancing an analysis Lambda Legal championed for fifteen years.
🛡️ Holding Power Accountable: Lambda Legal has sued the Trump administration six times and won four of those cases, with the other two yet to be heard, making it possible they could go six for six, proving that the rule of law prevails when we stand up for our rights in court.
🏆 Record-Breaking Fundraising: The "Unstoppable Future" campaign raised $285 million, exceeding its original $180 million goal by $105 million and becoming the largest fundraising initiative in LGBTQ+ movement history
💪 Expanded Legal Capacity: Lambda Legal is growing its legal team by 42%, expanding case docket capacity by 86%, while maintaining an impressive 86% success rate against anti-LGBTQ+ policies
🏅 Fighting for Trans Youth: Lambda Legal continues defending transgender students' rights at the Supreme Court, with oral arguments scheduled for January 2026 in cases challenging sports participation bans—standing up for young people like Becky Pepper-Jackson who simply want to play with their friends.
