Cara Dessert Celebrates Seven Years with The San Diego LGBT Community Center
🎉 Happy 7-Year Workiversary!🎉
Please join us in celebrating Caroline Dessert, Chief Executive Officer of The San Diego LGBT Community Center!
Since becoming CEO in 2018, Cara has led The Center through a phenomenal growth phase, increasing its annual budget from $6.5M to $15.5M, growing service visits to more than 90,000 annually, and developing seven facilities across San Diego County.
She led the expansion of services to include shelter and permanent supportive housing for youth, adults, and seniors, and ongoing services and advocacy for community members at risk of experiencing homelessness. She also spearheaded the opening of the South Bay Youth Center, the first dedicated drop-in space for LGBTQ+ youth in the South Bay region of San Diego County.
Under her leadership, The Center embarked on its first-ever cross-border immigration campaign, which provided life-sustaining humanitarian relief to LGBTQ+ and HIV-positive asylum seekers and their families at the border.
👏 Congratulations, Cara! We applaud your vision and leadership that continues to enhance and sustain the health and well-being of San Diego's LGBTQ+, immigrant, and HIV communities!
