About Us

In 1993, Joe McCormack founded our firm with a single client, the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR), and a mission to support organizations building diverse leadership teams. Since the earliest days of our practice, we have held an enduring and steadfast commitment to ensuring broadly diverse candidate pools, equitable interview and selection processes, and inclusive recruiting practices. Today, we are proud to be one of the nation’s leading diversity-focused retained search firms supporting nonprofit and philanthropic organizations to build leadership teams that seek justice for the communities they serve.

Our practice serves mission-driven clients with expertise in placing executive and senior leaders in foundations, advocacy, social justice, health, and human service organizations.

Our nationally distributed team brings decades of recruiting, organizational and leadership development consulting, and nonprofit executive experience to our client engagements. Our holistic approach is client-centered, and our process is strategic and research-driven. As a privately held, partner-led practice, exceptional placements and satisfied clients are paramount in each search and every decision.

We strongly believe diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging are essential pillars of healthy, thriving organizations and crucial components of dynamic and engaged teams. Core to our firm’s values is the belief that all organizations, including our own, should reflect the rich diversity of the communities they serve and the world in which we live.
